Inflow + Infiltration

Excessive inflow and infiltration (I&I) can reduce wastewater treatment efficiency. Delaware Engineering is skilled at identifying deficiencies that can pose public health hazards and provide municipalities with actionable plans forward, from design through construction.

Wastewater treatment plants play a crucial role in purifying water to protect public health and the environment. Excessive inflow and Infiltration (I&I) can dilute the sewage entering the treatment plant, reducing its efficiency and potentially overloading the system. This not only increases maintenance needs but can also have environmental impacts and shorten the lifespan of the facilities.

We handle all aspects of wastewater projects, from comprehensive studies, planning, and permitting to design, bid assistance, construction oversight, and start-up/operations support. For comprehensive I&I investigation and analysis we employ CCTV inspection, sanitary sewer monitoring, manhole-inspection, field surveys, onsite inspection at treatment facilities and in the field during rain events, hydraulic modeling, and utilization of GIS and flow monitoring technologies.
