COMMUNITY SERVICE
Family and community are at the heart of Delaware Engineering. We share an abiding conviction that we are incredibly fortunate that our work in the engineering field supports the prosperity of our municipal and private sector clients. As a result, we share a commitment to invest our time and talents in families and communities in meaningful ways.
We have had the honor, privilege, and pleasure to support Make-A-Wish, Habitat for Humanity, Wounded Warrior, and many other local organizations that share the mission to help those in need. We are grateful for our good fortune and look forward to supporting organizations in our communities that make doing for others their primary work.
Delaware Engineering Endowed Scholarship, SUNY Cobleskill
In 2022, Delaware Engineering established “Isabel’s Scholarship” in honor of a talented young woman that had her sights on attending SUNY Cobleskill. Although her life tragically ended before she was able to attend, this scholarship aims to carry her memory forward and to allow a student with the same goal to attend the college.
As a recipient of the 2023-24 Delaware Engineering Endowed Scholarship, I want to thank you for funding this scholarship. I am a Senior majoring in Environmental Management and I am track to graduate Spring 2024. My goal is to begin a career in Soil and Water Conservation. Thanks to your scholarship, I was able to spend more time on my interests such as working in the entomology lab. Thank you again for supporting SUNY Cobleskill Students like me. Your investment in my future means more than you will ever know!
Annual Golf Outing Benefiting the American Legion Riders
Since 2017, Delaware Engineering has hosted an annual golf tournament at Pinehaven Country Club to benefit the American Legion Riders (ALR) Post #977, a diverse group of motorcycle enthusiasts who combine the patriotic mission of the Legion with their love of riding. Since 2006, nationally, the ALR has raised millions of dollars for local children’s hospitals, schools, veterans’ homes, severely wounded service men and women, and a scholarship program for the children of those who have given their lives in active duty.
In 2017, we presented the local chapter of the ALR with a donation of $7,500. In 2018, we raised more than $11,000, and the following year we presented the ALR with a check for $20,000. Despite the challenges presented by COVID-19 restrictions, 2020 we were able to raise $25,000 for a worthy cause. Supporting this civic-minded, dedicated organization is one of the many ways that we work toward building stronger communities together. 2023 by far was our most successful year, handing over a check to the ALR Post #977 in the amount of $50,000!
Helderberg/Altamont ALR logged 4,200 mission hours in 2022 working with programs and performing other important services such as memorial processions and presentations, snow plowing for elder veterans, accessible ramp construction, and more…
Where have the funds been used? Here is a short list of the initiatives ALR #977 supports:

Make-A-Wish Northeast New York is on a quest to bring every eligible child’s wish to life, because a wish is an integral part of a child’s treatment journey. Research shows children who have wishes granted can build the physical and emotional strength they need to fight a critical illness. We couldn’t be more privileged to be able to lend our skills to help make wishes come true! Below are some recent projects where we have assisted the Make-A-Wish Northeast Chapter:

Jaxson’s Treehouse
For his Make-A-Wish Northeast New York wish, Jaxson was looking for a place to hang out. He said he always wanted a treehouse.
What he got is more like a mansion: A massive backyard treehouse with a wraparound porch, carpeting, furnishings, a loft, and all the attached playground features.
The treehouse officially opened the day before Jaxson’s 8th birthday. Unlike many wish reveals, this was no surprise. Afterall – how do you hide something like this in a backyard?! Jaxon beamed all day as he was surrounded by family, friends, and supporters including co-sponsors BBL Construction, Curtis Lumber, and Delaware Engineering, DPC.
“The smile on Jaxson’s face says it all,” said John Brust, Principal of Delaware Engineering “It makes it worth it.”
Michael’s Pool Deck
For 11 year old Michael, the perfect wish was to have an all season deck. Michael has a serious neurodegenerative disease which limits his ability to move independently. Despite having a big backyard with an above ground pool at his home, accessibility was a significant challenge to enjoying time outside. His wish was to have a deck that connected his home to his pool on one level to allow him to easily access the outdoors and pool.
Delaware Engineering was privileged to fund and personally construct a deck complete with railings and a hydraulic lift to make Michael’s wish come true. The deck connects the house from a sliding glass kitchen door to the pool and provides a large, safe area for Michael and his friends and family to play, relax and enjoy the outdoors all year round and the pool in the warm summer months.
Rian’s Pool
Rian and her mom made a wish to have any kind of heated pool with a deck. Rian loves the water and it comforts her CDKL5. The deck was needed to safely get her in and out of the pool. In April 2023, with the pool already installed, Delaware Engineering’s staff provided some drainage work and minor grading.
Ben’s Wish
When summer turns up the heat, many of us head for a shady tree, turn on the A/C, or make for the nearest swimming spot. For Ben of Schenectady, New York, however, getting around can present its fair share of challenges. It’s why he wished for an above-ground swimming pool with a pool lift, so he could cool off with his family on summer’s hottest days.
Installing a pool is no small task, but with the coordination and professionalism of several local companies, it all came together to produce a stunning result. Ben’s always been a cool kid, but now, he’s a lot cooler. No doubt he and his family will get years of enjoyment out of the crystal-clear oasis right in their backyard.
Delaware Engineering along with, Curtis Lumber, Islander Pools, Aqua Creek, A1 Water, Mobility Works, donors and supporters made Ben’s wish come true.
